Chester Hockey Festival

What a great weekend the Chester Hockey Festival was, i had an awesome weekend. Though wasnt allowed to drink as from saturday i had developed an ear infection which meant i was on antibiotics after having a trip to A&E. It didnt ruin my weekend, as i still had a great time.

The whole weekend comprised of a 6 a side tournament and a full 11 a side tournament

Friday Evening

Set-up tents, received kit for the weekend, headed to the bar.

Saturday

There were several highlights to the weekend and they were that we beat the other men’s chester based team the Fluffy Bunnies 1-0 and because we did this i was sent on a mission to matalan to get 17 white t-shirts, i could do this as i was the only sober one of the team. We then wrote on the t-shirts Chillirun 1 Bunnies 0 and proceded to wear these at the night event. The spares we had we gave to the bar staff which may have made things abit worse.

Also had to do a Chillirun down to the Spar this was interesting as i was sober, so no beer coat.

Sunday

Found out that we would face the bunnies in the semi final of the 6 a side tournament, the mouthing off and winding up of the bunnies last night may have been a bad idea oh well, we couldnt match the work rate of the bunnies and lost.

We finished on a high we found out we had made it to the Semi finals of the 11 a side tournament.

In the evening we dressed up as Mexican Meerkats which was well class, had alot of fun.

Monday Morning

Semi final game at 9 in the morning! We won this game but it was hard work with the heat and several member hangovers.

The Final against the bandits, we lost unfortuately. But a great weekend and i would do it all again, which i will next year!

Broken Laptop

Broken Laptop, Chereen’s laptop is broken, so hoping to fix it. The problem is worse as the fact the CD-Rom drive doesnt work and that the fact also is that its reporting a corrupt windows error which makes it a bigger problem as i cant use a Windows disc to repair it.

I tried using a External CD-ROM drive to see if i could use the laptop Bios to boot off the USB External CD-ROM drive which wouldn’t work as the Bios in the laptop is very basic no advance boot options which is disappointing.

So investigated on how to remove the hard drive which was very simple to do, as the hard drive has its own panel on the back of the laptop which allows easy drive removal.

So I went into the local computer repair shop on Parkgate Road in Chester, to make a few enquires as Chereen’s laptop is broken.I enquired on the price of data extraction, god they are pricey, to transfer 4 Gigabytes of data off the drive it will cost £25.00, which is extremely expensive.

For a new CD-ROM drive it will cost £50 – £60 to replace which not too bad, but the data transfer price is through the roof!

So im now thinking of investing in a USB2 2.5 hard dive caddy which shouldn’t cost too much, which means i could then use that to plug the drive into and copy all the data off.  Hopefully it will not cost too much.
