Tour

So i have just paid for Hockey Tour in April 5th – 11th, im so looking forward to it as this will probably be my only chance of having some form of holiday this year, unless i find a special some one, but right now tour it will be. We are off on tour to Loret de Mar in Spain, part of the lloretfest organised by Sportsparty. It will be 5th tour and one final chance to live the dream of been a student, as this year really will be final year of been able to play as part of the University squad, which i have enjoyed been able to help out the club and step up to the challenge.

Hopefully i will be on the committee again due to been my 5th year. Im not going to be harsh with the nature of tour rules and the tour rules just use them to keep people in line, i will be out there to enjoy myself and that’s the most important thing!

Bring on Tour

A Green Card

So on Saturday i played hockey which was quite a heated affair between Chester 6th and Chester 7ths. Two Club teams in the same league should never happen in my opinion and neither are anywhere need promotion. With parents on the sidelines of the 6ths as the 6ths are just a bunch of youngsters with one or two senior players to give some authority which wasn’t happening as the youngsters were spouting off their mouths, I’ve never heard so much bad language ever. The game was very controversial in many points of the game, with dodgy umpiring and the one umpire just not been keeping an eye on the game.

Our first goal was awarded after one umpire had to speak to the other umpire, there equalizer was down to sloppy defence. But our 2nd, 3rd and 4th goals made it all worth while as we annihilated them and smashed their resolve. As soon as we scored the 3rd their confidence was shattered and the game was in our hands. But we have nothing to cheer about as we only beat a bunch of 15 year olds but, they acted like spoilt brats, appealing and trying persuade the umpire into giving them the ball on fouls, nothing to do with the fact that one umpire also happened to be their youth coach.

I played a varied game, initially i started in midfield. i have never ever played in midfield and not an experience i enjoyed but i had to work at it and im sure in future games i could control the game better, but i within the first half i came off and was then back on the left wing which i found to be my A game and i was annoying their right wing who just didn’t have the talent to keep me from going forward, i set up our 2nd goal due to my persistent annoying self on the wing. Second half i started in midfield and felt a bit more relaxed but its so hard to keep track of the forwards and try to command the game, it was different i can say that much, but i enjoyed it more. Then towards the end of the half i played on the right wing and that was fun, i don’t get many chances on right wing and i enjoyed it alot more freedom and more chance to annoy the left wings and left backs.

Oh and that card i got a green card for disrupting play, and was warned. My first card ever in hockey so its nothing to worry about, and it was a fair challenge well i thought it was.

Anyway i can look forward to next weekend when i will be playing against Bowdon 9ths.

The thaw begins

Finally the snow is starting to melt it was nice while it lasted, but the snow has dented Britain. With our infrastrure, and transport networks almost coming to a halt all because of abit of snow. Its ridiculous why we cant cope with snow like this, when other countries in europe have no problem with it.

Well with the snow going atleast the country can get back on track, which means for me the hockey season can begin again, which i have missed. If the snow hadnt come, i had a chance to play for Chester 4ths, nevermind. I will keep playing and perhaps one day i will play at that level.

Also with the snow going, no more horrible driving conditions and a car that will probably function alot better, the horrible snow has gone.

Hockey Happenings

Recent hockey happenings:

Saturday played against Wimslow Hockey club, i scored the second goal of the game :)

Had my University of Chester Hockey Club Christmas meal on Monday which was awesome, a free course meal at the Westminister Hotel near Chester train station and a free bar. The meal was £40 so most of us made sure we got our monies worth. It was a fun and drunk night which ended up at Cruise Nightclub.

Wednesday i had the honour of playing for the University Men’s 2nd Team against Warrington Mens Hockey Team, so it was an inter campus battle. The game was awesome we scored 5 goals in the first half, our work rate was phenomenal. Second half was not so good, but we held out for a 5-2 win.

I had a good mention in the after the match as i held the left wing and not one player got past me on that wing. All in all an awesome team performance :)

A good game of hockey

So on Saturday i returned to playing hockey, a week off of no training or matches since i injured my ribs against University of Lancaster in a Cup game for the University of Chester. I returned to club duty with an away game in Tarporley against Deeside Ramblers, against there 7th team.  I was playing in a role i hadnt played in awhile which was right wing, i hadnt played there for so long but i enjoyed it.

I felt so fit and back up to form it was great, and my pace had returned, like on top of my game, also managed not to get injured for once haha. So all is good :)

The game was pretty much in our hands, we scored the first goal and had far more chances, by the end of the first half it should have been 5-0 to use. But we were only 1-1, not too bad for a half time score.

Second half was much of the same with either team counter attacking etc, quite a dynamic half lots of pace especially from our team, lots of chances, but thanks to Gregs two great goals at the end we were 3-3 at the end. All in all a great game, and probably one of my best games for along while :)
