So the previous bank holiday weekend, i played Chester Hockey Festival, playing for the Chester College Old Boys Team, a team of players who any of them have attended the University.

With the team called CHILLI RUN.
What a weekend is all i can say really, ive never have ever drank so much alcohol over one weekend ever, more drunkenness than any of the University Hockey Tours i have ever been on. It was quite a bit of a reunion for some people i hadn’t seen for awhile, it was awesome.
From pitching my tent on Friday to packing it away on Monday afternoon, i can honestly say it was the most fun ive had in along while.
Highlights of the weekend were for me:
- 28 teams Men’s and Women’s teams were present, that’s about 400 people plus.
- We beat the Chester Men’s host team the fluffy bunnies for the 2nd year in a row.
- We won the 6 a side tournament
- I wasn’t sober till at least Monday morning from Friday night.
- While playing the Dice game, i must have rolled a Die off each time i rolled, i think necked 5 pints in about 10 minutes.
- Can Off – another successful game of International Can Off
Well the University of Chester has recently purchased, County Hall in Chester to be the new home of the faculties of Education and Health and Social.

We will be calling the building Riverside, which ties in with this popular song.
So on Saturday i played hockey which was quite a heated affair between Chester 6th and Chester 7ths. Two Club teams in the same league should never happen in my opinion and neither are anywhere need promotion. With parents on the sidelines of the 6ths as the 6ths are just a bunch of youngsters with one or two senior players to give some authority which wasn’t happening as the youngsters were spouting off their mouths, I’ve never heard so much bad language ever. The game was very controversial in many points of the game, with dodgy umpiring and the one umpire just not been keeping an eye on the game.
Our first goal was awarded after one umpire had to speak to the other umpire, there equalizer was down to sloppy defence. But our 2nd, 3rd and 4th goals made it all worth while as we annihilated them and smashed their resolve. As soon as we scored the 3rd their confidence was shattered and the game was in our hands. But we have nothing to cheer about as we only beat a bunch of 15 year olds but, they acted like spoilt brats, appealing and trying persuade the umpire into giving them the ball on fouls, nothing to do with the fact that one umpire also happened to be their youth coach.
I played a varied game, initially i started in midfield. i have never ever played in midfield and not an experience i enjoyed but i had to work at it and im sure in future games i could control the game better, but i within the first half i came off and was then back on the left wing which i found to be my A game and i was annoying their right wing who just didn’t have the talent to keep me from going forward, i set up our 2nd goal due to my persistent annoying self on the wing. Second half i started in midfield and felt a bit more relaxed but its so hard to keep track of the forwards and try to command the game, it was different i can say that much, but i enjoyed it more. Then towards the end of the half i played on the right wing and that was fun, i don’t get many chances on right wing and i enjoyed it alot more freedom and more chance to annoy the left wings and left backs.
Oh and that card i got a green card for disrupting play, and was warned. My first card ever in hockey so its nothing to worry about, and it was a fair challenge well i thought it was.
Anyway i can look forward to next weekend when i will be playing against Bowdon 9ths.
