Masters Results

So its been awhile since i updated my blog, this because im normally quite busy and to be honest when ive been at working sitting in front of a computer all day, all i want to do is chill out and take a break from it all. So in the future i may blog less and use my blog as a personal website to pull in all of my online interactions into one place and display them as a lifestream.

But anyway i finally got my masters results in and i have successfully passed all of my modules though i did have to do two resits of them, and it took me longer than a year to get them finished, actually nearly 3 years to get them done, but least i have them sorted now :) I should have had them sorted last year, but with the transition of going from full time student, to working full time, to having my own flat, playing hockey every weekend i think took its toll, but i found my way back and they have now been sorted :) .

So now the next step will be me to start on my dissertation, which im aiming to do as soon as possible, i just need to get in my dissertation proposal which i hope i can get in next week, its 2000 words so much smaller than what im use to as the normal essay i have written in the past is 4000 words. And i have all of the required material for the essay so thats a bonus.

Though my masters will be a dauting task, 16000 words is alot, but im nearly there now, it will all be worth it in the end :D .

What a Busy Weekend

Well last weekend went very quickly and we are almost half way to the next weekend! Last weekend was particularly busy, i played hockey on Saturday for Chester against sale hockey club, i enjoyed playing. Once again i gave 110% and pushed myself even when i was feeling tired, I was busy attacking the left wing. I have pretty much made the left wing my position when i play hockey now., though occasionally play up front or the right wing. I enjoy left wing as i have to work twice as hard, and iam really starting to feel like i can control the game much better now.

On Sunday although uneventful i got down to writing my research methods for my masters, and i succeeded in making the essay up-to nearly 4000 words :) So glad that is happy, also i have sorted out my dissertation idea and know exactly what i want to do for it, which is much better :)

Holiday and the D word

Well i’ve come to the conclusion i need a Holiday, or at least a proper break away. I had a few days off and that was nice last week. But i could do with a proper break away, currently of thinking of saving up and going out to Australia to see my brother, that would be quite the life time experience, its defiantly on the cards.

But as much as i want a holiday i do have to get on with and start what is starting to become known as the D word, which is my masters dissertation, as im having to work out and pinpoint what i am going to do my dissertation on. My current dissertation is based around “social networking with Sharepoint”. Which i think could be interesting as my line manager has said that it would be good for the University and my Job. As it would be strategic which is nice, also will not have to worry about funding my dissertation as he has said that the department would be able to pay for me to do my dissertation, so that’s awesome.

A Big Update

Well i haven’t blogged for a long time, i just havent had the time of late, also just found it a chore to blog. I have wanted to but found other things to do. I have lots of things going on:

My Masters is going well, though I have kind of realised for my research methods and untimately for my dissertation i had lost my way on why i was doing the idea of social networking, although i was doing an literacy based research idea i have realised this will not be good enough and not as benifical for a good level for my disseration. So i have decided to change my topic and have found a much better topic one which is “social networking with sharepoint” this will allow me to link it too my job which will help me much better.

Working full time, i now am getting much more responsibility within my job as i help look after timetabling services and backup services, and lots of website developments, so very busy at the moment.

Hockey i have been playing lots lately been training more than twice a week at the moment, i am getting very fit, but as a consequence i have picked up quite a few injuries, i have bruised ribs at the moment which i did last week in a game for University,  and i further injured them on Wednesday at a away game at Lancaster University. I enjoyed playing i must admit, but they hurt quite abit so i am not playing on Saturday for club now, don’t want to risk it.

All in all i lead a very busy busy life, but its better to be busy than be bored. :)

Masters Degree in Facebook offered

Students will now be able to take a Masters degree in ‘Social Media’, with the University of Salford insisting that the course can give real-world skills and experience.

Although it should come as little surprise that people will now have the option to have an MA in Facebook and Twitter, the course is apparently aimed to produce the next generation of PRs and marketers.

Course leader Professor Ben Light said: “Social media is often associated with photos and statuses on Facebook,” he said. “But there’s a massive potential for it to bring communities together, whether they’re geographical or online.

To be honest in my opnion it could be percived as just studying Facebook and social media and social networking, but it also could be a huge benifet for businesses in the future if you have employees who have been trained in the use of using social media tools, such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Myspace, and other social media websites and tools.
