Students will now be able to take a Masters degree in ‘Social Media’, with the University of Salford insisting that the course can give real-world skills and experience.
Although it should come as little surprise that people will now have the option to have an MA in Facebook and Twitter, the course is apparently aimed to produce the next generation of PRs and marketers.
Course leader Professor Ben Light said: “Social media is often associated with photos and statuses on Facebook,” he said. “But there’s a massive potential for it to bring communities together, whether they’re geographical or online.
To be honest in my opnion it could be percived as just studying Facebook and social media and social networking, but it also could be a huge benifet for businesses in the future if you have employees who have been trained in the use of using social media tools, such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Myspace, and other social media websites and tools.

Since spotting that Chris had set up his Sweetcron install, i decided to get mine up and running, i ended up spending the best part of 4 hours trying to get it work and in the end the only reason the admin section wasn’t loading, was because i had missed one trailing forward slash. My fault for not reading instruction correctly and also as i decided to be clever and put my sweetcron install on a sub domain, to make it easier to organise my database and content and keep it separate from this blog.
What Sweetcron is?
Sweetcron is a way of collection different feeds, so for example i use to group lots of different social networking websites im apart from, which includes the likes of:
- Last.fm
- Flickr
Which means its quite a cool little application, all that is left to do is to write and design my own theme for it when i get the chance. Also it means i can get rid of my old wordpress based lifestream, which can be abit slow and doesnt store as much data as i want.
Happy April Fools, have you been fooled?
I will be trying to collect April fools i have found on the web:
